Jade Purdy

Jade Purdy is a Chartered Structural Engineer and Director of Structures at Agentia. Jade started her career at AKT II and brings more than a decade of exceptional experience delivering complex structural engineering projects in the UK and internationally. She joined AKT II as a graduate engineer in 2014 and has progressed through the practice to become one of the most respected engineers, contributing to the design and delivery of a wide range of high-profile commercial, cultural and mixed-use developments.
Across her career she has developed particular expertise in the structural design and retrofit of existing buildings, adaptive reuse and sustainable engineering solutions. Her approach aligns with our inter-disciplinary design culture, having led and delivered projects that require close collaboration with architects, contractors and specialist consultants to deliver technically innovative and environmentally responsible outcomes.
Alongside her project work, Jade is actively engaged in the wider industry and academic community. She has participated in the New London Architecture NextGen Sounding Board, contributing to discussions around the future development of London and the role of design professionals in shaping the city. She also lectures and participates in reviews and industry engagement with academic institutions, helping to bridge professional practice and engineering education.
Work
Jade has played a key role in a number of prominent projects delivered by AKT II. Jade led the structural engineering work on the major retrofit and redevelopment of 1 Appold Street for British Land in the City of London, getting main contractor Skanska into contract on one of the City’s most ambitious remodel and extend projects. Her portfolio also includes the redevelopment of 334 Oxford Street, where new steel structures are integrated with retained elements of the existing building to create modern office and retail spaces while retaining significant portions of the original structure. Earlier in her career she contributed to a number of landmark projects, including the Bloomberg European Headquarters in London, one of the most celebrated sustainable office developments in the UK. She has also been involved in engineering work for projects at the All England Lawn Tennis Club, Wimbledon, and has contributed to international work including a biomedical research facility in Rwanda.
Her project experience spans commercial office buildings, large-scale retrofit and redevelopment schemes, cultural facilities and international research infrastructure. Through these projects she has developed a strong reputation for collaborative design, technical rigour and delivering structural solutions that respond to both architectural ambition and sustainability goals.
In addition to her commercial work, Jade has supported pro-bono initiatives including the redevelopment of the Seymour Place community centre, reflecting her persona; commitment to socially beneficial projects.
