Agentia believes that an interdisciplinary design approach is critical to success in the design of the modern built environment. This approach selects the best practitioners in each of their individual fields, and tasks them with creating a focused design environment purposefully working towards a shared goal.
In this regard simply being a structural engineer is no longer enough. For the creative discourse to be most fruitful the engineer must be both knowledgeable and mindful of all elements at interplay. The solution cannot be blind to the impacts of our choices in respect of climate emergency, resource depletion or social equity. Our choices must be informed, robust and create durable buildings and places capable for the present and the future.
In this regard the conversation between the ground and the building becomes a critical consideration. Risk managed solutions can offer opportunities to holistic approaches looking at the soil structure interaction, at the condition of existing elements, and in the appropriateness of design parameters, "loosening" them up where appropriate based on a refined understanding of risk outcome, to eliminate traditional belt and braces overdesign.
Structural engineering
The capability to analyse and design structures of all types. We have experience in all typologies of buildings including residential, hotel and leisure, commercial office, retail, airports, theatres, galleries and museums, stadia and industrial buildings. We have the ability to design in all engineering materials and to deliver buildings that are new build or retrofit.
Our designs are developed with sustainability at the heart of the process, evaluating the carbon intensity of the structural solutions and running them alongside a project carbon budget, seeking to minimise climate impact through global warming and resource depletion.
Civil, drainage and flood engineering
We deliver all aspects of civil engineering, earthworks, below ground drainage, road pavement design, etc. necessary to deliver our projects. We are passionate about the benefits that well designed Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems can bring to projects and can draw on experience where resolving this task this has become a greatly exploited project success.
Geotechnical engineering
Many of the projects our team has delivered have been in close proximity to third party assets, underground railways, or crumbling Victorian sewers that require great dexterity in crafting design solutions that will not negatively impact the asset. Our team can execute analysis of varying complexity to assure this including time sensitive FE analysis.
Facade engineering
Our façade engineering practice centres on developing high performance envelopes, building exteriors that go far beyond visual impact to serve as an integrated, high-functioning component of the architecture. Our approach addresses a spectrum of technical and human-centred requirements:
- Performance: Façades are engineered for insulation, air permeability, ventilation, and resilience against weather, blast, and fire.
- Sustainability: Adaptive “smart” skins incorporate sustainable materials and technologies to meet the evolving demands of climate change.
- Materiality: Our expertise spans from heritage materials like stone to advanced composites such as carbon fibre, supported by computational design.
- Technical Integration: The envelopes we design interface seamlessly with other building systems, ensuring cohesion with the superstructure.
- Fabrication and manufacture: Digital fabrication and innovative construction methods enable precision and creativity in execution.
- Wellbeing: Design considerations include daylight modulation, acoustic performance, and the impact of façade permeability on health and comfort.

Bioclimatic engineering
Our bioclimatic design service blends engineering precision with environmental insight to shape built environments that are comfortable, safe, and resilient.
By analysing key factors such as wind flow, daylight exposure, solar access, and air quality, the team integrates climate-responsive strategies from the earliest stages of design. Using advanced tools to assess wind microclimates, outdoor thermal comfort, daylighting, and air quality, we ensure each project supports sustainability and enhances biodiversity, while simultaneously actively reducing its carbon footprint.
Climate adaptation
Bringing together the breadth of interdisciplinary expertise across our practice enables the formation of a risk register that looks at the impacts of climate emergency on a property portfolio or estate. Our skillset allows us to assess heat stress, fluvial and pluvial flood impacts, SUDS opportunities, geotechnical consequences of moisture content changes, heat island effects, air quality and many other metrics that will be critical for Estates Management/ FM to understand in planning their capital expenditure and the program for necessary implementation to avoid obsolescence of assets or the need to implement more expensive unplanned emergency responses.
