Design

Our practice takes and expresses agency through Design.

We hold central to our being the thought that there is no situation, no circumstance that cannot be enhanced through the overlay of design. This belief holds even whilst acknowledging that defining 'design' is not something that is easily achieved. Artists, academics, architects, historians and thinkers have framed many responses to this question, but it seems that it is likely that a single accepted definition of something which is fundamentally visceral, ethereal, intangible and personal may remain forever elusive.

For us however we know it to be experiential. For us design is the thing that exists in all 'stuff' that metaphorically taps you on the shoulder as you walk past, suddenly aware that a glimpse does not satisfy, that elicits a second, or a third, glance and that trickles or erupts a sub conscious sense of appreciation for the beauty, or the craftsmanship, the intellect or the subtle-way-in-which-it-is-somehow-different, or the many other internalised landscapes that combine to frame design, but that always ends in a smile.

Design does not succeed by accident, it succeeds when underpinned by effort, by exploration, by embracing the need to fail in order to ultimately succeed. This is why we believe in invoking a high-quality approach, which draws on a great reserves of experience, enriched by an inherent curiosity. Success is attitude, delivery is aptitude. We bring both.

Engineering

Agentia has the ability to deliver complex projects within budget and programme. Our leaders bring decades of experience and success with projects of the highest quality and projects of scale. Our designs are developed through a process that encourages exploration and critical assessment, viewed through an interdisciplinary lens to assure the best project solutions.

Our designs are developed following this rigorous testing to ensure they remain well considered, buildable, affordable and aligned to the project quality aspirations. This approach assures deliverability which is monitored vigorously during all stages of the project and is proven on many past projects. We believe in the benefits of an open and collaborative approach, whilst acknowledging the critical importance of expertise in one's own field, and our willingness to work with and for contractors in delivering to completion underscores this.

Our approach ensures that value is embedded from concept through to the successful delivery of a project. We bring an innovative thought process to all commissions, aligned to producing sustainable, well-engineered buildings appropriate to delivering the client’s needs and fulfilling the requirements of the design brief.

We are recognised as a collective with a skill set that reaches beyond our own discipline through our collaborations with industry bodies and academic institutions.
